by Lord Provost of Glasgow

In 2015, KoolBa clinches the title of "Best Curry Restaurant in Britain", while Glasgow itself earns the coveted Curry Capital of Scotland accolade. Leading the charge, Lord Provost Sadie Docherty and the Glasgow City Council team spearheaded the city's bid, culminating in KoolBa's overwhelming victory with the highest public votes.

The Lord Provost said: “I’m not surprised that they attracted a tsunami of support from Glaswegians. We love our curries and we are extremely proud to be home to such wonderful cuisine. A tale of Glasgow winning the title of Curry Capital of Britain

img

We witnessed the proudest moment in the history of Britain's chronicles of Indian cuisine in 2010. Glasgow has achieved the prestigious designation of Curry Capital of Britain. Amidst competition from 11 other prominent cities across the United Kingdom, Glasgow emerged triumphant during the celebrated National Curry Week. The Glasgow City Council spearheaded the endeavor by submitting entries from four esteemed local restaurants, which were meticulously assessed across various criteria including culinary excellence, service standards, and hygiene practices. Representing Glasgow in the final showdown were KoolBa, Balbir's, Mister Singh's India, and Mother India Café.

Expressing his elation, Lord Provost Bob Winter remarked, "The resurgence of this title to Glasgow is a source of immense pride and joy. This accomplishment is a testament to the outstanding contributions of our chosen gastronomic ambassadors, who impeccably represent our city." Among the 66 Glasgow-based top restaurants nominated, KoolBa, Balbir's, Mister Singh's India, and Mother India Café garnered the highest acclaim, solidifying their status as culinary cornerstones within the city's vibrant dining scene.

KoolBaa serves some tasty food. We had a few authentic Indian dishes and those were very nice. Rogan Josh served by Koolba is outstanding. The customer service is also another highlight and the restaurant was not that crowded when we visited. We didn't reserve a seat before visiting the Restaurant but I always recommend you to reserve a seat and go because it can get crowded on the weekends.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Staff were friendly and professional. The menu was varied and there was a set lunch available for £15 a head. We had poppadoms (£7 extra), vegetable pakora, chicken pakora, chicken tikka masala, chicken kebab irani, rice and garlic nan. Portions were very generous. Everything arrived in good time and was delicious. Definitely visit again.

Myself, brother and sister visited the Koolba this evening (29.12.23). We have been a few times before and would always choose to come here for Indian food. The food is freshly cooked with fresh ingredients and VERY tasty. The staff always serve to our requirements. Staff are outstanding: polite, helpful, friendly, accommodating and hardworking. The ambience and atmosphere is warm, welcoming and relaxing. It was yet again, another successful visit for us and we will be going back again and again!
